I understand your point, but I also think it would be another massive invasion of a girl's privacy for her to have to name the father. Just depends on the situation.
And the very sad fact is that most parents of boys would likely react in a way that would only be hurtful to the girl anyway. You know, it would be the girl's fault, etc.
